Research infrastructure at UiB

UiB facilitate advanced scientific equipment, e-infrastructure, databases, registries, archives and collections, that may be used by relevant users from all sectors.

Knowledge shapes society

UiB is the host institution for a number of major research infrastructures. Several of these are operated in collaboration with other institutions.

UiB has several core facilities with advanced equipment and highly qualified personnel that are available to users from all sectors, both nationally and internationally. This helps strengthen academic communities, create arenas for research collaboration, and keep the costs of expensive technical equipment down.

National initiative on research infrastructure

UiB will develop strong research infrastructures and strengthen collaboration on infrastructure nationally and internationally. This is stated in the University of Bergen’s strategy and is one of our ambitions leading up to 2030.

Several of UiB’s research infrastructures have been established with support from the Research Council of Norway’s funding scheme National Initiative on Research Infrastructure.
