Aftercare for young adults with a cross-cultural upbringing
This PhD-project explores how aftercare in the child welfare functions for young adults with a cross-cultural upbringing.
About the research project
In my PhD-project, I explore how help and support provided by the child welfare works for young adults between the age of 18-24 years with cross-cultural backgrounds. More specifically, I look at what kind of help is given, how useful the help is deemed and how young adults themselves have participated in the decision-making process. I explore the experiences that child welfare caseworkers and other professional helpers have in supporting young adults who have grown up with multiple cultures, in their transition to adulthood.
My aim is to address knowledge gaps and contribute to equitable access to support in the transition to adulthood for young adults with cross-cultural backgrounds.
I have also applied a participatory approach in the initial stages of the project.
