PREPARE visits the annual ECREA conference to present papers on public connection and sensemaking.

The 10h European Communication Conference ECREA 2024 - Communication & social (dis)order takes place in Ljubljana 24-27.September. The PREPARE project contributes 3 papers for the main conference and one for the pre-conference Exploring the Dynamics of Digital Disconnection: Disruption, Inequalities, and Norms.
Main conference
- Hallvard Moe - Beyond resigned bystanders? How people make sense of climate issues in the news: Background knowledge, moral compasses, and environmental values
- Ozlem Demirkol -Tønnesen - Between two worlds: Practices and pitfalls of immigrant public connection
- Emilija Gagrcin - Building bonds: Enacting "good neighborhood" through the use of instant messaging apps
In addition, PI Hallvard Moe will chair the panel Dimensions of news avoidance. Associate professor II Emilija Gagrcin will be a speaker at the roundtable ICA@ECREA - Transformative scholarship in communication studies.
Pre-conference
The project Intrusive media, ambivalent users, digital detox' (Digitox (external link)) is organizing a pre-conference on the theme Exploring the Dynamics of Digital Disconnection: Disruption, Inequalities and Norms.
