Use data from The Norwegian Citizen Panel

In the Norwegian Citizen Panel data has been collected on a wide range of topics – from the use of AI in the public sector to voting intentions, climate change, immigration, and attitudes toward antibiotics.

In short

Through the Norwegian Citizen Panel, questions has been asked of a cross section of people living in Norway since 2013. On semi regularly intervals, the same questions have been asked of the participants, so we can study changes over time. Otherwise, the research projects using the infrastructure contribute their own questions to the panel, resulting in a rich dataset covering a broad array of topics over the years.

The data is available for non-commercial use in research and education through Sikt. Anyone can apply for access. The most recent data will not be available to external users until a few months after the latest data collection, but you may still apply for access in advance.

To check whether we have the data you need for your project, you can browse the codebooks that are publicly available.

The info pages on codebooks and method reports are just in Norwegian now, but you will there find links to English codebooks and method reports.

More data access

Much of the data from the citizen panel is archived and disseminated by Sikt, but not all. Some, like text data, longitudinal data, or the newest data in their beta period is not archived by Sikt, and you need to apply for access by contacting us at kodem@uib.no
