Course description
Objectives and Content
The course provides tools to navigate critically in a world of facts, claims, and arguments encountered in various media. You will explore how scientific thinking is expressed in academic literature and what distinguishes information from misinformation. You will learn simple techniques to locate and evaluate information and how to use these in writing assignments according to academic practice and expectations. Additionally, you will become familiar with how to engage with AI tools like ChatGPT in your studies.

- Identify fundamental academic values.
- Describe principles of source criticism and critical reflection on science and scientific communication.
- Explain why and how to use others' work in academic writing.
- Recount basic rules of copyright in an academic context.
- Account for opportunities and challenges related to using AI tools in studies.

- Apply relevant methods to evaluate scientific information in various media
- critically.Navigate effectively through academic literature using appropriate search tools.
- Incorporate others' scholarly work into written assignments, including creating citations and reference lists in accordance with academic standards.
