Course description
Objectives and Content
The course will provide an introduction to basic statistical concepts, principles and methods used in speech therapy and healthcare research.
Contents:
-Methods for reporting (describing and summarizing) a collection of data through tables, graphs and descriptive measures.
-Basic distributions: Normal distribution, binomial distribution
- Concepts in statistical inference: Sample and population, hypothesis and hypothesis test, significance level, p-value and confidence interval
- Determining statistical power and sample size

Upon completion of the course, the student must have the following learning outcomes:

After completing the course, the student can: Understand the most important principles when using quantitative research methods.
Skills
After completing the course, the student can:
- Understand and apply common descriptive statistical measures
- Understand the prerequisites for generalization of results and the principle of statistical testing
- Decide which analyzes and tests should used in the most common study designs
General competence
After completing the course, the student can:
- Show critical reflection on method use and methodological issues in written work.
