Introduction
Global investments in offshore wind energy are expected to increase significantly. Therefore, there is a growing need for specific knowledge on the opportunities and challenges in offshore wind.
Bergen Offshore Wind Centre (BOW) has developed a six-week online course. This course will provide you with a solid foundation of key issues related to the utilization of offshore wind.
The course is taught in English via the course platform futurelearn.com. There is no course fee, and the course does not give any ECTS.
Course content
The course runs through 6 weeks, consisting of the following modules:
- Introduction, perspectives, and concepts of offshore wind energy
- How to extract energy from the wind and what is wind?
- Wind wakes and marine ground conditions.
- Legal framework and coexistence
- Impacts on the marine environment
- Electrical systems
How to enrol
The course is taught in English and offered via the course platform futurelearn.com.
If you want to take the course for free without paying any course fee, please select "Limited Access - Free" when you register on the course platform. You will then have access to the course for the next 6 weeks. The period of 6 weeks starts to run from the day you register, after which you lose access to the course. It is therefore wise to wait to register until you are ready to set aside some time to follow the course over 6 consecutive weeks.
You can also choose to pay a course fee, which gives you access to the course for a longer period.
