Apply for fieldwork as an archaeologist

Every year, the Archaeological Heritage Section carries out larger and smaller archaeological investigations in Vestland and in Sunnmøre. Investigations start when building or construction projects affect heritage sites — that is, heritage older than 1537, which is automatically protected under the Cultural Heritage Act.

The Archaeological Heritage Section at the University Museum advertises fieldwork positions for archaeological excavations. Positions are advertised on JobbNorge, where you apply. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the season, and fieldwork is assigned as new projects come in. Excavations mainly take place from March to October.
