Kamilla Haugland-Pruitt har doktorgrad i nevrovitenskap og har stor interesse for søvn og kognitiv svikt hos personer med demens. Hun arbeider for tiden som postdoktor ved Senter for alders- og sykehjemsmedisin (SEFAS) ved Institutt for global helse og samfunnsmedisin. Ved SEFAS er hun engasjert i banebrytende forskning på demens, inkludert European Research Council Consolidator Grants-prosjektet om dekoding av død og døende hos personer med demens ved bruk av digital fenotyping.
Hun startet sin karriere innen nevrovitenskap som masterstudent med fokus på nevroanatomi ved det Nobelprisvinnende Kavli Institute for Systems Neuroscience, NTNU. Hennes erfaring inkluderer roller som postdoktor ved University of Edinburgh og seniorrådgiver ved Helsedirektoratet. Hun har også utført forskning ved University of California San Diego.
Haugland-Pruitt har en unik bakgrunn innen nevrovitenskap, som omfatter innovativ sensorteknologi, intrakraniell hjernekirurgi og celleopptak i gnagere, molekylærbiologi, nevroanatomi og klinisk erfaring fra sykehjem. Hennes forskning inkluderer læring og hukommelse, atferd, søvn, utvikling av koblinger og kognitiv svekkelse ved aldring og demens. Hennes mål er å bygge bro mellom basal og klinisk nevrovitenskap relatert til kognitive svekkelser ved aldring og demens.
