Forskning

Jeg undersøker evolusjonen og tilpasningsevnen til bevisste prosesser og underliggende nevrale strukturer i menneskelige og ikke-menneskelige organismer. Min tidlige forskning fokuserte på bevisste og underbevisste prosesser involvert i språk, syn, og numerisk kognisjon. Nylig utviklet jeg «avstandsindeksen» (DI) og den «globale indeksen» (GI) for å fange opp forskjeller i hjernestruktur mellom menn og kviner, mellom individer i kliniske grupper og mellom teleost fisk oppdrettet i minimale versus berikede miljøer. Jeg samarbeidet også med Anders Opdal, Sergey Budaev og Jarl Giske som bygger evolusjonære simuleringsmodeller for dyreadferd, økologi og velvære.
