Forskning
Hovudvekta av forskinga mi har vore innanfor traumefeltet og kvalitativ psykoterapiforsking, og eg er medforskar på fleire prosjekt innan desse områda. Eg er også oppteken av helsetenesteforsking, inkludert terapeutperspektivet på behandling og klinisk beslutningstaking.
I tillegg er eg svært oppteken av klinisk opplæring, og leiar undergruppa "klinisk opplæring", som ligg under forskingsgruppa Bergen Psychotherapy Change Lab. Vi er fleire kollegaer ved IKP som over fleire år har lagt grunnlaget for å kunne gjere forsking på den kliniske opplæringa vi tilbyr på universitetet. Tradisjonelt universiteta sikra at studentane har lært det dei skal gjennom vurderingar innan kvart emne i utdanninga, samt godkjente praksisperiodar. Det er derimot, både nasjonalt og internasjonalt, svært lite systematisering av erfaring med den kliniske opplæringa, og ein har i lita grad undersøkt om studentane får styrka sentrale ferdigheiter gjennom utdanninga. Sjølv om gruppa har jobba med å legge grunnlaget for slik forsking over fleire år, er gruppa og forskingsporteføljen framleis under utvikling og oppbygging. Gruppa har likevel fleire konkrete område der vi jobbar systematisk: Område 1: Formulering av kva kompetanse som er naudsynt for å ha som klinisk psykolog; Område 2: Måling av relevante kliniske ferdigheter; Område 3: Undersøking av kva situasjonar norske klinikar opplever som særleg krevjande; Område 4: Etablering av videobibliotek med relevante, kliniske situasjonar i ein norsk kontekst; Område 5: VR vs skjerm – gjer VR ein forskjell?; Område 6: Målretta trening (Deliberate Practice) som pedagogisk modell for tileigning av klinisk kompetanse; Område 7: Korleis fasilitere utvikling av studentane sin terapeutresponsivitet?; og Område 8: Videokoding av terapi som moglegheit til modellæring. Eg er også oppteken av å utvikle tenking kring korleis vi brukar oss sjølve som instrument innan kvalitativ forsking, og kva implikasjonar dette har for opplæring. Eg har til dømes leia eit prosjekt på rolle til empati i kvalitativ analyse, og har initiert eit prosjekt som er i startfasen på ekspertise i kvalitativ analyse.

Eg er svært oppteken av behandling av vanskar etter kompleks traumatisering, samt korleis ein kan utvikle og trene sentrale terapeutiske ferdigheter og relasjonell kompetanse. Undevisninga mi er i hovudvekt knytt til terapeutopplæring, kommunikasjonskompetanse og behandling av kompleks traumatisering. I tillegg underviser eg i kvalitativ metode.
