About the department

The Department of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Humanities offers nine language disciplines. at the University of Bergen (UiB), we conduct research and provide teaching in languages, literature and culture from every continent

Research

Our research spans linguistics, literature, cultural studies and language education, and is organised into research groups focusing on themes such as Europe’s borders, multilingualism and language testing.
