Research
The department has a broad, internationally oriented research profile, with research groups in logic, philosophy of science and mathematics, philosophy of mind, ancient philosophy, practical philosophy, critical theory and Wittgenstein studies.

Studies
The department offers teaching in philosophy at all levels, including a one-year programme, bachelor's degree, master's degree and PhD training. The department is also responsible for Examen Philosophicum, the mandatory introductory philosophy course taught across all faculties at the University of Bergen, as well as "Read and Write", an introductory academic reading and writing course for students at the Faculty of Humanities.
