Anna Abrahamsen completed her Master's degree in Molecular Biology in 2022 and began her PhD in 2023 with the Neuroscience Research Group at the Institute of Biomedicine. Her research centers on synaptic plasticity—the brain's ability to adapt and change. Specifically, she focuses on the activity-regulated cytoskeleton-associated (Arc) protein, which plays a crucial role as a master regulator of synaptic plasticity and is vital for memory and cognitive flexibility. Anna is using advanced microscopy techinques to better understand Arc's role in synaptic plasticity, including single-particle tracking and super-resolution microscopy.
