Momentum Delegate 2026/2027
I am a researcher at the Departement of Biomedicine working to understand the immunological and metabolic mechanisms that drive post‑infectious diseases such as ME/CFS and Long Covid. My scientific background spans biomedicine, cancer metabolism, immunology, and clinical laboratory research.
ME/CFS and Long-Covid place a substantial burden on patients and healthcare systems, yet they remain without established biomarkers or effective treatments. My work aims to define the immunological and metabolic mechanisms that shape ME/CFS and related disorders. We use a translational research approach in which laboratory in vitro experiments are guided by data from patient samples, including multi-omics and extracellular particle analyses, to investigate mechanistic targets. My current focus is finding an autoimmune component in ME/CFS by analyzing patient blood samples collected before and after immunomodulatory treatment.
What drives me is the possibility of clarifying a disease that has been unclear for far too long and contributing to a better understanding of conditions that place a considerable burden on patients, families and healthcare systems. In the long run, I hope to develop knowledge and methodological approaches that can be useful not only in post infectious diseases, but also across research fields and diseases characterized by complex and poorly understood biology.
