Paid semester fee to another higher education institution in Norway

You are only required to pay the semester fee at one place of study in Norway, even though you are entitled to study at more than one. The main rule is that you pay the semester fee to the higher education institution you have been admitted to.

Students who don't pay the semester fee to UiB / the Student Welfare Organisation in Bergen (Sammen), will not have a valid Student ID App from UiB and will not benefit from Sammen's welfare services. However, if you pay the semester fee to Sammen through another higher education institution in Bergen you will have access to all of Sammen's services.

Register external payment

If you do not pay the semester fee to UiB, we still have to have it registrered in our system. Register your payment to another institution in UiBhjelp, by uploading proof of payment within the deadline.

Having trouble using the payment service?

If you are having problems using semesteravgift.uib.no, please describe the issue and send it to semesteravgift@uib.no.

Why does the payment service show “no invoice”?

There may be several reasons why you do not see an invoice at semesteravgift.uib.no:

  1. You have an exemption from paying the semester fee. Exchange students to UiB do not have to pay while studying at UiB.
  2. You are checking too early. Semester payment has not yet opened for the upcoming semester.
  3. You have already paid. You only need to pay once per semester.
  4. You have paid at another institution in Norway, and this has already been registered.
  5. You are a PhD candidate and do not need to pay the semester fee. Contact your faculty if you believe you are required to pay.
  6. You are not entitled to study this semester. If you believe this is incorrect, contact the information centre at your faculty.
