Shelf overview

Our books are classified and arranged according to our own system, the L catalogue, which is divided into six thematic categories:

  • Law in general (L 1–107)
  • Private law (L 108–637)
  • Public law (L 638–1127)
  • International law (L 1129–1235)
  • Ecclesiastical law (L 1236–1288)
  • Other subjects (L 1300–1410)

If you want to search for specific L numbers in Oria, go to advanced search. Search for the L number and use the filter Local classification.

Collections

The library has the following collections:

  • Ordinary lending collection – contains legal literature. The books are shelved systematically, divided according to the L scheme.
  • Course literature – available on a dedicated syllabus shelf: bays 50 and 51. We have at least one copy for use in the library only (marked with grey and blue spine tape) and almost always also a copy for loan (marked with grey tape on the spine). A lot of the course literature is also available digitally.
  • Journals – shelved alphabetically by title on the bays marked Journals (bays 27–37). Remember that most of our journals are available electronically via Oria.
  • The source and reference collection – marked with blue tape. Blue tape means the material may only be used in the library: you can read, scan and copy it under Kopinor's rules, but not take the book out of the library. Our source collection consists of legal source material from various countries, while the reference collection contains reference works, handbooks and dictionaries. These books have REF as part of the shelving signature.
  • Closed stacks – a storage room for books that are not immediately available. These must be retrieved by staff.
Borrowing and returns

A machine for loans and returns is available in the library. Reserved material is collected from the pickup shelf. You receive a pickup code by SMS or email.
