Research at the museum

Research at the University Museum is based on existing scientific collections and research-based collecting.

Research on biodiversity and cultural heritage contributes to insight into the natural crisis and the importance of cultural history for society. We have a strong biosystematics academic community, especially within marine organisms, archaeology and paleobiology. Climate change and methodological developments make our collections relevant as important research archives.

The University Museum contributes to strengthening UiB's initiatives within the ocean, climate and global societal challenges and actively participates in UiB's medieval cluster.
