It is a great pleasure to invite you to the 14th CCBIO Annual Symposium, at Solstrand outside of Bergen, Norway, May 12-13, 2026.

See the preliminary scientific program here.

CCBIO’s annual symposia have around 200 participants each year and consist of a combination of talks by invited international speakers and other senior researchers, speed presentations by PhD students and postdocs, extended poster sessions where younger researchers can present their work, and time for interaction between participants. As can be seen from the overview of previous symposia (2013-2025) (external link) and the reports from each symposium on the web page, we have top-level international speakers and a broad range of activities. The participants constitute a balanced mix of local, national, and international researchers at the senior level, many of whom also hold high-level hospital positions and are key opinion leaders, as well as research students, technicians, and administrators. Hotel Solstrand, suitably far from Bergen, constitutes an ideal venue for such meetings, and most participants stay overnight.

Since 2025, we have had an increasing focus on innovation and academic-industry interactions, by including two targeted sessions. One session focuses on early phases of innovation and startup companies, with examples. The second session includes presenters from more established companies (big pharma’), where industry partners might present their activities and the opportunities their companies offer. Also, we allow industry participants to take part in our extended poster sessions with similarly sized stands among the academic exhibitors. The feedback from industry participants was that this worked very well, and that taking part on equal terms on site and being fully included in all activities was much appreciated.
