CeSAM represented during Arendalsuka
Vigdis Vandvik will take part in discussions on land-use neutrality, on how the way we talk about nature can make a difference, and she will help bust climate myths. Through these events, CeSAM contributes research-based knowledge on area-neutrality, nature management, and climate issues, while actively participating in the public conversation about how we can address climate and biodiversity challenges in a knowledge-based and evidence-informed way.

How can area-neutrality move from being a political ideal to becoming a practical governance tool? This event explores the need for common standards, methodologies, and criteria for addressing nature loss, ecological compensation, and land-use development. Through expert presentations, examples from municipalities and development projects, and a political debate, participants will discuss challenges related to responsibility, documentation, and decision-making in land-use management. Vigdis Vandvik will contribute as an expert, bringing research-based perspectives on biodiversity considerations and sustainable land use.

Does the way we talk about nature make a difference? This event examines how language, narratives, and communication shape our understanding of the nature crisis and influence societal choices. The discussion will explore how nature is communicated in the public sphere and whether new ways of talking about nature's values, risks, and biodiversity loss can lead to better decisions and stronger engagement with biodiversity conservation. Vigdis Vandvik will contribute insights from her extensive experience in social ecology and environmental management.

Climate myths meet facts in an energetic and audience-friendly quiz show. Two teams of researchers and climate communicators compete to debunk common misconceptions about climate change and sustainability using evidence, humor, and public engagement. Among the participants are Vigdis Vandvik, climate scientist Bjørn Samset, Hauk Are Fjeld, and Julie Marie Følstad. The event is hosted by Renate Nedregård and Arild Sondre Sekse from Klimapartnere.
