Abstract

How can we better understand, assess, and support older adults living with dementia and Parkinson’s disease, both at home, at institutions, and at the end of life? This seminar features researchers from Neuro-SysMed's Care Node (SEFAS), who will present their ongoing research on how digital tools, in‑home care technologies, and advanced symptom‑assessment methods can enhance our understanding and care of patients who may not be able to communicate their needs.

Speakers and topics:

  • Line I. Berge: Digital phenotyping of psychiatric symptoms in dementia and Parkinsons disease
  • Farzana Haque: ORAL care at the end of life in people with DEMentia
  • Shivam Pandey: A Fuzzy-Enabled Multimodal Platform: Towards Smarter In-Home Care for Older Adults
  • Bettina S. Husebø: How to measure end-of-life symptoms in people unable to give informed consent?

NEUROSYSM920

Neuro-SysMed's seminar series is open to all and is, in addition, part of a 3 ECTS course in Neuro-SysMed's Research School, with subject code NEUROSYSM920 (external link).

The objectives of the seminars at the Neuro-SysMed Research School for Translational Neuroscience are to provide knowledge into the research field of the disciplines involved in Neuro-SysMed, and the treatment strategies for patients with MS, PD, ALS, and dementia.

The course entails monthly participation in the seminar series, a two-day symposium, and the submission of two written reports. Students are also required to present their own research or a self-chosen scientific topic at the symposium. Read more about the course code on the student webpages
