Ancient Cultures, Languages, and Traditions
The research group Ancient Cultures, Languages, and Traditions focus on ancient material and visual culture, the history of technology and learning, classical philology (Greek and Latin) and classical traditions in thought, literature, religion, art, music, and architecture.
About the research group
The main aim of the research group is to facilitate the development of individual and cooperative research projects within the thematic frame of ancient cultures, languages, and traditions. An important interim goal is to obtain Research Fellowships in ancient cultures and languages at LLE with funding from the Faculty of the Humanities. The group is collaborating closely with our sister research group The Ancient World at AHKR about research seminars, guest lecturers, and reading groups and coordinate and promote ancient cultures, languages, and traditions in education programs at UiB. The research group will also work to develop research- and education programs in cooperation with the Norwegian institutes in Athens and Rome as well as promote ancient cultures, languages, and tradition for the public in Norway.
