Prizes
One of the prizes we are proud to have received is the Student Research Prize offered by the Norwegian Dental Association for the project "Plastic Waste in Dentistry from an Environmental perspective"
Congratulations to Ragnhild E. Krage (to the right) and Margit Hågå who won the student research price at the Norwegian Dental Association Meeting (November 2023). Here they are together with the president of the Norwegian Dental Association, Heming Olsen-Bergem.
The theme of the master thesis was "Plastic waste in dentistry from an environmental perspective."Supervisors: Mihaela Roxana Cimpan and Nils Roar Gjerdet.

Dissemination
The Biomaterials research group is an active contributor of dissemination.
As an example, the Workshop “New Approach Methodologies for NanoSafety” and the “NanoBioReal” Project meeting were held in Bergen on March 30th and March 31st, 2023. Safety assessment is essential for the successful implementation of scientific breakthroughs in nanomaterial science and nano-enabled technologies that address global societal challenges.
The workshop aimed to present recent advances in tools for the safety assessment of nanomaterials and chemicals and to gather feedback on future development of research in this field. The workshop featured the participation of key international and national experts in nanoscience and (nano)toxicology.
The project meeting highlighted the achievements of the project “Towards a reliable assessment of nanomaterial health effects using advanced biological models and assays (NanoBioReal)”, financed by the Research Council of Norway through the Nano2021 program. The NanoBioReal consortium has designed and established closer to real-life advanced biological models and exposure systems, methods that are less prone to distortions caused by nanomaterial interferences, and data models that provide reliable and efficient tools for a safer and more sustainable development of nanomaterials and nanotechnologies.
