Professor emerita Kjersti Fløttum was awarded the National Order of Merit by France.

Professor emerita Kjersti Fløttum was awarded the French Order of Merit (Ordre national du Mérite) on 28 November 2023 for her many years of work in promoting the bilateral relationship between France and Norway, her work as professor of French and researcher at the Department of Foreign Languages at the University of Bergen and her role as vice consul for France in Bergen.

After the Legion of Honor (Légion d'honneur), the National Order of Merit (Ordre national du Mérite) is the second highest of the French civil awards.

The ceremony took place in the French Residence in Oslo where the French ambassador to Norway Florence Robine awarded Kjersti Fløttum the order in front of colleagues, friends and family who had the opportunity to participate.
