The end of an Era
Congrats to Dr. Cannon Homaei!
Published:
On 20 March 2026, Selina Cannon Homaei successfully defended her PhD thesis, “Roles of GADL1 in β‑alanine metabolism”, at the University of Bergen. Her research provides new understanding of how the enzyme GADL1 contributes to the production of β‑alanine and carnosine — two molecules with essential roles in energy regulation, protection against oxidative stress, and maintaining healthy function in muscles and the brain.
Her defence highlighted not only the scientific depth of her work but also her ability to communicate concepts clearly and confidently.
Congratulations to Selina for her outstanding effort, exceptional dedication, and a truly impressive presentation. We couldn’t be more proud of her achievement.
