In 2026, Sudanese artists within the fields of film, illustration, storytelling and theatre will engage with parts of the collection through a process of “anarchiving."
The project will take the form of a workshop in Bergen, with the participation of Mariasole Pepa, geographer from the University of Padua, serving as both a space for critical reflection and as a laboratory of creative practice that will expand the meaning of the Bergen Sudan Archives. In this workshop, archival materials are not only preserved but also reinterpreted, re-narrated, and re-contextualized through Sudanese perspectives.
