Discover the Master’s in System Dynamics at the University of Bergen

The Master’s Program in System Dynamics at the University of Bergen (UiB) prepares students to understand and manage complex systems shaping today’s world — from environmental sustainability and public health to economics and social development. It is one of the few full, two-year programs globally dedicated to System Dynamics and hosts an active international student community.

What is System Dynamics?

System Dynamics combines:

  • Qualitative systems thinking – mapping feedbacks and interconnections among system elements.
  • Quantitative modeling and simulation – using equations and computer models to observe how systems evolve over time.
  • Policy design and testing – exploring how interventions can improve outcomes across sectors.

The program teaches students to analyze how system structures create behaviors over time and to design policies that address sustainability and other wicked problems. It blends logical reasoning, data-driven simulation, and participatory modeling to help students translate complex insights into actionable solutions.
