Why did you choose to study System Dynamics?
My aim was to shift my career focus as a business graduate towards something more data oriented and system dynamics seemed to fit the bill.
Best memories from the System Dynamics studies in Bergen
I think this program always feels like a tight knit group of people. There aren’t too many people in the realm of SD and if you actively start to get into the community, you can find that you are able to reach anyone within the community fairly easily. I am fond if the friends and connections that I made during the program, more so than perhaps the content itself honestly.
What did you study in your master's project?
I did a methodological study of how SD may be incorporated into strategic business decisions.
What is your current occupation?
I work as a data analyst and process large amounts of freight rate data, which acts as a cost benchmark for shipper entities in the industry.
How are the System Dynamics studies of relevance for you in your work?
The aspect of working with datasets and experiences collaborating in processes, such as group model building, were relevant for my hiring and work.
What is your advice to new System Dynamics students?
I advise students to get involved with the people in the SD community. It is absolutely never too early in the program to do so. There are a tonne of benefits to that such as being able to ask for specific help, getting part time work, building a network, feeling more motivated etc. Lastly it could also help you figure out sooner if the program is for you or not.
