Sample Preparation Facilities

Our services include sample preparation for transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and for light microscopy (LM).

Services

Transmission electron microscopy:

  • Traditional sample preparation by resin embedding of cells or tissue, ultra-thin sectioning and contrast staining.
  • Negative staining protocols.

 

Light microscopy: 

  • Paraffin embedding and sectioning of tissue. 
  • Staining with Hematoxylin/Eosin (HE).
  • Scanning of slides

Procedure for delivering samples

  1. Contact our staff for sample preparation by e-mail to preplab.mic@uib.no and briefly explain the preparation you need and the amount of material you will process.
  2. Prior delivery, fill in a service request in the booking system, where you follow the steps in the TEM or paraffin sample submission forms.
  3. You will receive feedback regarding estimated delivery time and if possible estimated costs.
  4. Please come with the samples at the appointed time. Samples that need to be processed right away have to be delivered within Thursdays before lunch.


Please note that we practice “first come, first served”. You will receive an e-mail when your samples are ready .
