Rosaceae (the rose family)
The rose family (Rosaceae) encompasses everything from roses to apples, cherries and rowan. The museum gardens have one of the largest rose collections in the Nordic region and conduct research on several genera in the family.

The rose family is a large and diverse family that includes both ornamental and useful plants. The museum gardens grow and research several genera, with the Rosarium and the genus Sorbus (rowans and whitebeams) as focal points, and work on the evolution of the rose family.

Universitetshagene dyrker og forsker på flere slekter, med Rosariet og rogneslekten (Sorbus) som tyngdepunkter, og arbeider med rosefamiliens evolusjon.
Rosariet i Arboretet viser over 500 ulike roser og er Norges største rosesamling og en av Nordens største.
Hva inneholder samlingen
Rosariet (slekten Rosa)
Over 500 ulike roser i tre deler – Villrosebakken (botaniske arter), Den historiske bakken (gammeldagse og kulturminneroser) og Rosehagen (moderne kultivarer). Norges største rosesamling.
Rogn og asal (Sorbus)
Rogn, asal, hagtorn, eple og pære hører til eplegruppa i rosefamilien og kjennes på frukten, som botanisk sett er et eple. Museet har norske endemiske Sorbus-arter av bevaringsverdi.
Rosefamiliens evolusjon
Samlingen brukes i forskning på slektskap og evolusjon i familien.
Tilgang og bruk
Tilgang
Samlingen er tilgjengelig for forskere og studenter etter avtale, og plantene kan søkes opp i Hageutforskeren.
