Child poverty, ethnic minorities and school performance
This PhD project explores risk and protective factors related to school performance for children and adolescents of families living in poverty in Norway with either a Norwegian background or a minority background.
About the research project
This project explores, in line with a resilience perspective, the risk and protective factors related to school performance for children and adolescents of families living in poverty in Norway with either a Norwegian background or a minority background. The central point of the concept of resilience is how children and adolescents which live under these complex risk conditions can function well and adjust themselves. Additionally, academic resilience is explored amongst the ethnic minority children in Nordic countries. Academic resilience refers to school performance for children and adolescents who have experienced considerable risk and adversity, but nonetheless do well at school.
