About the research project

The PhD project focuses on adolescents' use of epithets like "homo" (derogatory), "gay" (derogatory), "lesbo", and similar words. The aim of the project is to explore the possible causes of the use of gay-related name-calling and consequences of being called these names. The project used data of the HEVAS project with pupils from grade 6, 8, 10 and 1VG (n=5820), as well as Slåtten's own datacollection of pupils in grade 9 (n=916).
