Bergen Summer Research School is a joint venture under the leadership of the University of Bergen with Chr. Michelsen Institute, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, NHH Norwegian School of Economics, and NORCE.
Governance of the summer school
BSRS is overseen by a steering committee made up of representatives appointed by each of the partner institutions. This committee sets the strategic direction of the summer school, including decisions on budget, scholarship guidelines, and overall priorities. It meets once per semester and is chaired by the University of Bergen’s representative.
To support the academic and operational planning, a working group is appointed by the steering committee chair. This group includes representatives from all partner institutions, the previous year’s scientific director, and the BSRS secretariat. The working group selects the scientific director for each edition, approves course offerings, and invites new research groups to contribute to the course portfolio.
Each year, a scientific committee is formed, led by the appointed scientific director and composed of that year’s course leaders. This committee is responsible for developing and coordinating the academic content of the programme.
