The 11th Nordic Health Promotion Research Conference (10-12 June 2026)

The 11th Nordic Health Promotion Research Conference is taking place in Harstad, Norway, from 10–12 June 2026. 

The registration deadline is 25 March 2026.

This year’s theme, Promoting Health and Equity at Times of Crisis – Health Promotion Across the Lifespan, marks the 40th anniversary of the Ottawa Charter, adopted by the WHO in 1986. The Charter laid the foundation for modern health promotion, emphasising health as a positive resource rather than merely the absence of disease.  

 

The conference will feature around 50 researchers and practitioners presenting their work through lectures, parallel sessions, and poster presentations.

Keynote Speakers

- Professor Ilona Kickbusch – A global leader in health promotion and the initiator of the Ottawa Charter  

- Associate Professor Sven Hassler – Expert in social sustainability and Indigenous health  

- Professor Karl Ove Moene – Economist specialising in welfare states and public health  

- PhD Lise-Marie Bergvoll – Focused on health promotion for children and young people  

- Professor Louise Jane Phillips – Specialist in participatory processes and user involvement

Learning Together in Global Health: Exploring What Works – and Why

For decades, the Global Health community has built a vast knowledge base of interventions that save lives. Yet, significant challenges remain—from the pressures of climate change, shortage of human and financial resources and the complexities of implementation in resource-demanding environments.

Main Objectives
  • Build Common Awareness: Identify what works, why it works, and the methodological frameworks driving progress.
  • Expand Applicability: Bring Global Health methodology to a wider range of stakeholders in Norway.
  • Showcase Regional Activity: Present the impactful Global Health work involving Norwegian partners, in collaboration with global partners.
