Erasmus+ Traineeships

The Erasmus+ Traineeship scheme is a programme funded by the European Commission.

How do I arrange an Erasmus+ traineeship? 

An Erasmus+ traineeship/internship must be arranged between you, your home institution, and the faculty or department where you wish to be placed in at the University of Bergen.  

You must first contact your home institution to ask if you are eligible for a traineeship period abroad. The traineeship period must be included in your degree at your home institution. 

Duration 

A traineeship period in the Erasmus+ programme can last between 2 and 12 months.  A traineeship period of less than 2 months will not be registered.

You can be enrolled at the University of Bergen as a short-term student (trainee or exchange student) for maximum two semester in total. This applies regardless of whether there are two non-contiguous periods. 

As an Erasmus+ traineeship student you are not eligible for a housing guarantee. 

Application deadline

Start autumn semester (August): 1 May 2025* 

Start spring (January) and summer semester: 15 October 2025* 

*Final deadline! No extension will be given after these dates. 

Students will be informed by mid-June /mid-December of the outcome of their application. 

How to apply

The Learning Agreement for traineeship must be signed by you, your home institution and the receiving faculty or department at the University of Bergen by the application deadline: 

  • 1 May for the autumn semester 
  • 15 October for the spring semester  

You apply for admission by forwarding your completely filled out and signed Learning Agreement to the receiving department at the University of Bergen. 

An application cannot be made retrospectively or after the traineeship has started.

A traineeship period for less than 2 months will not be registered.

At the moment there are no advertised openings, but you can still contact a department or research group of your interest to find out if they offer traineeships.
