Objectives and Content

This advanced course in intaglio printmaking provides an introduction to etching on copper. The course includes work with line etching, hard ground, soft ground, aquatint, and open bite. Necessary health and safety (HSE) training related to these techniques is also provided, with particular emphasis on the safe use of chemicals and equipment.

The course aims to give students a technical understanding of the various possibilities within intaglio printmaking, as well as insight into each process and its associated safety practices. Upon completion, participants will have basic skills in the core intaglio methods and be able to work in the workshop within established safety guidelines.

Duration: 3 days.

Required Previous Knowledge

Access to the course requires completion of KMDINTRO - 005 Workshop Access: Printmaking – Intaglio/Relief, or other approved HSE course for relief printing or monotype.
