Lectures
The teaching is designed to encourage active participation, so students are expected to complete any written and/or oral homework assignments given as part of the course.
If less than five students are registered to a course, the department might reduce the teaching, please see the department's guidelines regarding this on Mitt UIB. Regarding a course where this is a possibility the students get information about this at the beginning of the semester, and before the deadline regarding semester registration 1st February/1st September.
Compulsory Assignments and Attendance
1) Obligatory attendance at least 75% of the scheduled lectures.
2) A short presentation (15-20 minutes) on a topic related to the course. The topic will be agreed with the teacher, who will also approve the presentation.
3) Work on a term paper:
Supervision is mandatory. Students must contact the teacher themselves and attend supervision meetings.
The deadline for approval of the term paper topic is five weeks before the final submission date. This deadline will be announced on Mitt UiB.
The deadline for submitting the first draft of the term paper is three weeks before the final submission date.
The compulsory work requirements are only valid for the teaching semester.
Forms of Assessment
A supervised term paper.
The student chooses the topic for the term paper in consultation with the teacher. The assignment should be 13-17 pages long (31,200-40,800 characters including spaces), not including the bibliography and appendices.
The term paper must be written in English, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, or German.
