Course description

Objectives and Content

The lecture consists of writing and presenting one or several project assignment(s). The(se) project assignment(s) will have themes that span the entire spectrum of central issues in statistics. Usually, a core aspect is the analysis of data sets with appropriate statistical methods by means of the program package R. While working on the project(s), the students will receive training in the use of library services. Teaching is also given in the topic of mathematical writing and in the use of LaTex. A project assignment can be written in connection with an internship at a company.

Learning Outcomes

After completing the course, students should be able to:

  • Plan and implement one or more project(s) related to statistical subjects.
  • Edit mathematical text using own software.
  • Formulate and present one/several statistical problem(s) both orally and in writing.

This course is only for students at the Bachelor Degree Programme in Statistics and Actuarial Sciences. The course is to be taken in the sixth semester.

Compulsory Assignments and Attendance
Mandatory course attendance.
Forms of Assessment

A semester thesis or several submissions and one oral presentation.

Exam only once a year - Spring.

Grading Scale
The grading scale used is A to F. Grade A is the highest passing grade in the grading scale, grade F is a fail.
