Free course for students and employees at the Faculty of Medicine and Helse Bergen. Doing a systematic review is an often used methodology in medicine and health sciences for getting an overview over the topic and reveal gaps. There are specific requirements for this kind of summaries.

About the course

The course “Introduction to systematic reviews for medicine and health” covers the following issues:

- What is a Systematic Review
- Types of reviews
- Relevant databases for finding systematic reviews
- Preliminary searches
- Writing a protocol
- Documentation of search strategies
- Tools for data management and quality appraisal
- Guidelines and standards
- The role of the library

Practical information

Important: This course does not cover search techniques, functionality in different databases, or reference software. If you are interested in that, please have a look at the other courses from the Medical library.
