Smerter i ansikt og kjeve

Forskningsteamet for Smerter i ansikt og kjeve ble etablert i 2013 i forbindelse med et oppdrag fra Helsedirektoratet for å bygge opp et tverrfaglig utredningsteam for pasienter med alvorlig temporomandibular dysfunksjon på Haukeland Universitetssjukehus (HUS). Formålet med oppdraget var å karakterisere pasientgruppen. Nasjonal behandlingstjeneste for pasienter med uavklarte smerter i ansikt og kjeve ble opprettet i 2017 på HUS.

Om forskergruppen

Forskningsteamets hovedmål er å bidra til økt kunnskap om de ulike smertetilstandene i ansiktet som pasientene blir henvist for. Dette kan bidra til en raskere diagnostisering og videre medføre raskere og riktigere behandling. Forskningen omfatter både klinisk- og basalforskning.

Gruppen har et stort nettverk og jobber tett både med nasjonale og internasjonale forskningsgrupper. I Bergen foregår forskningen tverrfaglig med flere avdelinger under Klinisk Odontologisk Forskning ved Institutt for Klinisk Odontologi og på Haukeland Universitetssjukehus; Avdeling for Patologi, Avdeling for Kjevekirurgi, Seksjon for smertebehandling og palliasjon og Nasjonal behandlingstjenesten for uavklarte smerter i ansikt og kjever.
