What is the student ID app?
The student ID app is a digital student ID that shows that you are a student at UiB. You can use it at places that offer student discounts, or other places where it is necessary to show that you are semester registered and have paid the semester fee.
You have the student ID app in addition to the student card, which you use to get into buildings and to print, among other things.
Where can you use the student ID app?
You can use the student ID app at any place that offers student discounts. If you experience any misunderstandings on wheter the app can be used as a valid student ID, you can refer to this page or ask them to contact us at semesteravgift@uib.no. You also need the app if you have a student ticket with Skyss and need to show confirmation to the ticket inspector.

How long is the student ID valid?
The student ID app is valid until 31 January for the autumn semester and 31 August for the spring semester.

What do I do before I have paid the semester fee and registered for the semester?
Are you a new student? If you need to show proof of being an active student before you have registered for the semester and paid the semester fee, you can show the e-mail "Welcome to the University of Bergen" from UiB (until 1 September).
Are you an active student? You can use the student ID app for the autumn until 31 January and until 31 August for the spring semester.
How do I log in to the app?
You select the University of Bergen as your institution and log in with the same username (without "@student.uib.no") and password (FEIDE) that you use for other UiB services.
How does the app become valid?
You must pay the semester fee and complete the semester registration on Studentweb for the student ID app to be valid.
If you are a visiting student at UiB, you have usually not paid the semester fee through UiB and therefore do not need a valid student ID app at UiB. You must get your student ID from the educational institution you paid to.
Do I also need a physical student card?
Yes. At UiB, the student card is used to access buildings, borrow books at the libraries and for printing and copying using the UiB printers. If you do not need these services, for example if you are a continuing education student, you may not need a student card.
Why is there no picture of me in the app?
When you have been to the Card Centre and taken a photo for your student card, the photo should also appear in the student ID app after a short time. If the image does not appear, try signing out and in the app or downloading it again in the App Store/Google Play/Windows Store.
The app is still valid as a student ID without a photo, but then you must also show identification with a photo at e.g. ticket control on buses and light rail.
I need to submit/send a copy of my student ID, and I can't use the app.
If you need to submit proof that you are a student and a screenshot of the student ID app is not enough, you can, for example, order a student confirmation in Studentweb.
The student ID app does not work.
Are you studying at several educational institutions? Check where you have paid the semester fee. You must log in to the student ID app with the educational institution you have paid to. This means that if you have not paid to UiB, the student ID app will not work for UiB, even if you have registered your payment to another educational institution with us.

I'm getting an error message. What can I do?
If you have problems logging in to the student ID app, you can try the following steps:
- Check where you have paid the semester fee. If you have paid to another educational institution, you must log in to the student ID app with the educational institution you have paid to.
- Uninstall the app and download it again.
- Sign in on another phone. If this goes well, you should contact your mobile provider.
- Log in to innsyn.feide.no with your usual UiB username and password. If this is not possible, you may need to change some characters in your password (avoid e.g. æ, ø or å). You do this on passord.uib.no.

I need to submit proof that I am a student
In some cases, you may be asked to submit or attach proof or confirmation that you are a student at UiB. There are several ways you can do this.
Do I need to show a student ID when I take the exam?
No, you can bring your student card or other valid ID to the exam.

Do I need to be online to use the app?
The information is stored locally on your phone, and you do not need to be online to use it (only the first time).
What kind of information does the app collect about me?
The app collects the following information: name, photo, date of birth, student number, institution and whether you are an active student (that you have paid the semester fee and registered for the current semester).
