K.G. Jebsen Centres for Research

Stiftelsen K.G. Jebsen contributes financially to independent research in Norway, in particular medical and maritime research. The University of Bergen has six K.G. Jebsen centres for medical research and one for deep sea research.

The Kristian Gerhard Jebsen Foundation was founded in 2009 and has since established 14 K.G. Jebsen Centers for Medical Research in collaboration with Norwegian medical faculties and university hospitals. At present four such centres have their base at the University of Bergen and Haukeland University Hospital.

The K.G. Jebsen centers form part of the foundation’s program for translational medicine. The long-term aim is to facilitate the transfer of new understandings into the development of new or improved methods for diagnosis, therapy, and prevention.
