Crime, Responsibility and Security
The research group is concerned with legal constructs, rules and practices relying on medical or philosophical premises. Core research themes include juvenile justice and criminal accountability for mentally ill offenders.
About the research group
The research group emphasizes the integration of various academic perspectives into legal science, including philosophy, psychology, psychiatry, neuroscience, social sciences, and history. Through the different research projects affiliated with the group, key areas of expertise include criminal responsibility, law and mental health, and children and criminal justice.
The group aims to advance legal scholarship by incorporating diverse research methodologies. Methodologically, the group seeks to complement nationally oriented legal dogmatics with international and interdisciplinary perspectives on criminal law, as well as empirical and comparative research methods and socio-legal analysis.
The group is largely oriented toward the international legal academic discourse, and collaborate with several leading research environments both in Norway and abroad.
