About the research group

The overall objective of the research group is clinical research on health and development in children at risk and medal care of diseased children.

Research areas are pediatric interventions, short- and long-term outcome related to fetal and neonatal period, growth, organ function and general development in the young. Research methods include follow-up of cohorts, clinical trials and register based studies.

The group cooperates closely with the Department of Pediatrics at Haukeland University Hospital and Stavanger University Hospital as well as Helse Fonna and Helse Førde and most group members are both clinical physicians and researchers within pediatric health care. In addition there is broad cooperation with other research groups locally as well as nationally and internationally.

In the 10-yearly Norwegian Research Council of Norway Evaluation the group was in 2025 given top scores (5) on Research and publication quality, Research group contribution and Research group's societal contribution, and described as "an excellent research group" with "world class performance in clinical studies... constituting an international paragon".
