About the research group

Vision and mission

Our scientific and strategic target goals focus on renewable energy resources, enhancing collaboration with academia and industry, attracting external funding for new research, effectively disseminating findings through publications and community engagement, and improving the quality of education in the university's energy programs.

Scientific goals and targeted achievements

1. Measurements: Involves a wide range of activities in collaboration with other research groups.

2. Modelling: covers the development of computational models for fluids and solids across several spatiotemporal scales, including wind, wave, solar energy, and in general renewable energy harnessing from ocean.

3. Data-driven methodologies: Aims to enhance process understanding and generally learning from collected or modelled data.

4. Multidisciplinary impacts: Seeks to understand the impacts of energy systems on the environment, industry, society, and the economy.

During the strategy period, we aim to attract funding for PhD and research positions to achieve these strategic goals within each research theme.

There are currently projects within each goal catagory of the renewable energy group that further represent the nature of above target objectives (vision) and the fact that we already have some projects, within each research theam, requiring development. Additionally, within multiscale modelling and measurements, we will also focus on the climate system, solar, and wave energy in the upcoming strategic period.

Measurable outcomes include the amount of funding secured or the number of grant applications submitted, the success rate of applications, the number of publications, outreach activities, and increased engagement within the energy community (both onshore and offshore).
