Research Group for Civil Liability Law and Insurance Law
The research group focuses on fundamental questions in Civil Liability Law, especially at the intersection of Insurance Law, Contract law, Civil Procedure, and Human Rights.
About the research group
Members of the research group have established close cooperation with public agencies, the insurance industry, and interest organisations such as the Norwegian Association for Personal Injury, ensuring a research focus characterised by practical value and societal relevance. The group actively participates in international research projects and networks, with a special focus on the impact of EU law on Norwegian Civil Liability Law and comparisons of legal frameworks across jurisdictions.
A central theme moving forward is the legal challenges associated with new technology, including artificial intelligence. Several members are partners in TRUST – The Norwegian Centre for Trustworthy AI. Through this partnership, the research group has established an institutional collaboration with the European Centre of Tort and Insurance Law (external link) in Vienna. The group is a leading academic environment within Civil Liability Law and artificial intelligence, with a strong commitment to supporting young researchers through activities such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and supervision.
