Human geography reveals the forces that either support or undermine sustainable forms of production and consumption, from both a short term and a long term perspective.
Research on natural resource management examines how the needs and interests of diverse actors either align or conflict in primary sector dynamics, both at a local level and across scales. Accordingly, human geography research on natural resource management contributes new knowledge on how we can maximize synergies and minimize trade-offs between the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainability.
