Have you ever had to take antibiotics but wondered what they actually are and how they kill bacteria? Have you peraps heard that many antibiotics no longer work as they should?

Antibiotics are used to treat many bacterial infections, but a growing problem is that some bacteria are becoming resistant and can no longer be treated with today’s antibiotics. This is called antibiotic resistance and is becoming a serious problem. That is why it is important to find new ways to combat disease-causing bacteria.

In our research, we are investigating how small molecules can bind to various targets within the bacteria and prevent them from functioning normally. Through this research, we hope to contribute to the development of new molecules that could become the antibiotics of the future.

At our station, you’ll learn more about antibiotics, small molecules, and how we conduct research. You’ll also have the chance to test how quickly you can find the right key—which is essential in antibiotic research—and you can take part in our quiz!
