Women’s experiences with abortion boards in Norway (WAB)
In this study we explore the experiences related to the current policy for second trimester abortions in Norway. The first phase of the study was commissioned by the Ministry of Health to be used in the current process of revising the Norwegian abortion law.
About the research project
Main aims: This project explores experiences with the Norwegian system for obtaining second trimester abortions. To increase knowledge on the current abortion board system and gain better insight into the experiences of women seeking abortions, this study focuses on three main questions. The study distinguishes between women's experiences with all phases of the process of petitioning and obtaining their abortion through the board, as well as their experience during the actual meeting with the abortion board:
1) How do women experience the process of seeking a second-trimester abortion within the framework of the abortion board system?
2) What are the experiences of women seeking abortions during the actual meeting with the abortion board?
3) How do women perceive the board's authority to make a decision about their lives while ensuring that they receive adequate information and guidance?
