NutriNOR
NutriNOR is Norway's national research school in nutrition.
About the research school
NutriNOR is a national research school in nutrition, hosted by the University of Bergen and funded by the Research Council of Norway. It is open to all PhD students in the field of nutrition and food science in Norway, and collaborates with research schools in Germany and the Netherlands.
The research school is led by Professor Jutta Dierkes at the University of Bergen. It is supported by a scientific coordinator, an administrative coordinator, and a steering board.
The main aim of NutriNOR is to support PhD students in the field and capacity building in nutrition science. Further, we want to improve the chances of NutriNOR candidates on the job market. Therefore, NutriNOR has both an academic pillar and a professional pillar. Many activities can be counted to both pillars.
NutriNOR's activities are designed to prepare doctorate students for careers in both research and industry. Members will have access to our Leadership Training Program, Summer School, PhD Conference, Mentoring Program, internships, and Alumni group. Members can also apply for funding to attend courses or conferences.
Summer School
As indicated by the name, this is an annual summertime event. It usually lasts for three days and is held at the University of Bergen. It is open to all PhD students in nutrition. Through lectures, presentations, group work and discussions we explore topical subjects and learn from each other. The social program, with dinners and various activities in the evening, is also an important part of the event.
PhD Conference
NutriNOR's PhD Conference is held in autumn every year. The conference is arranged by PhD students from one of NutriNOR's academic partners. It usually lasts for two days and can include lectures, discussions, group work, and presentations tied to an overarching nutritional or professional subject. A social program is also an important part of the conference. It is open to all doctorate candidates in nutrition.
Mentor Program
NutriNOR's mentor program is available to students who are in the final year of their PhD or have recently defended their thesis. Mentors are senior researchers or managers from NutriNOR’s partners. A mentor can support you, help you plan and make decisions about your future career, consider your expertise in specific areas, and guide you on how to improve or develop in your field of interest. A mentor and a mentee should meet 2-4 times in person or online. Mentor meetings are confidential. If you are interested in joining the mentor program, please send an e-mail to nutrinor.uib.no.
Internships
In cooperation with its professional partners NutriNOR can offer 3-month internships. If you are interested in an internship, please send an e-mail to nutrinor.uib.no.
